My sincere apologies—I didn’t mean to drift the esteemed Duke’s Build off target—but I was thinking if I had to rebuild the engine I was gonna be hurting... luckily the repair was a 12 dollar radiator cap. I must be vigilant and mind the temp gauge!

Well, to start, no apologies necessary Bruce, this thread had come to a complete halt anyway. I did love the rain we had all that day! What a thrill, it made me feel like I was right at home. I also need to get my truck into the shop, maybe in a day or so.

I hadn't done anything on this build yet since the last update, except sand off the cracked clear coat and prepare to shoot more paint. Hobby day was fun. I took a few models that I wanted to pitter-patter around with; nothing serious. I'll have pics soon enough, at least in a few days.

Orangecon was a blast as always. It was a bit slower with a few less vendors than usual; mostly because of the rain and some because of the issues thrown at us by the college. We still had an excellent turnout with about 482 models on the tables. This was the day of collections as we had at least seven collections on the tables. These included a collection of 26+/- Star Trek ships, 21+/- Space 1999 Eagle Transporters and other ships, and 32 Essex class aircraft carriers.

I was one of only two entrants in 1/700 scale ships, so my USS Bootes took a second place in that category. Yet a miracle of Biblical proportions occurred when my 1/72 scale Merkava IIID (LIC) took a Third, shutting out Jim Frye! For those who don't know, Jim is a True Master who does magic with any model he builds, second only to Jim Wexler, who constantly takes the Best Of the Best at almost every model contest he enters. Wexler took the Best of Show at the Phoenix Nationals this year along with 19 other awards. Jim Frye took 17 awards at Nationals as well. Now you know why that was such a miracle to me. So, someone needs to dust off that Trophy Case so I can add my latest two winnings....


I went back on Sunday for the second day of the HMGS/PSW Game convention and played a few games. That was fun as well. It was quite the busy yet fun weekend. I'm glad I got the day to relax now. Tomorrow I might try and get the Hellcat and this Thread back on track. Stay tuned everyone.

My reply is a bit scattered; Tarantino transformed part of Westwood Village into a Seventies set for his latest movie, and I just walked past so many Seventies muscle cars it was like time traveling... just one more sequence for “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood,” with Brad Pitt and Leonardo DeCaprio. Thanks Bruce. I'll get them posted soon I hope. Lately, things have just been dragging me down. I even tried to work on something yesterday. I went in, picked up a model to try and add to it and promptly broke something off that I'd glued on before. I set it down, said "That's it!" and walked out of the Hobby Room. I'm not sure any more when I'll be back in it. I'm finding it hard to find the energy to do anything lately....

I am not an expert but I have found through school and experience that letting off steam and backing off from a project, meditating and exercising will usually make a difference—removing yourself from doing more work when you already feel pressure is a great idea. Also, are you staying hydrated? Water’s awesome for energy, Duke! (Plus it’s pretty cheap.)
