Mustang! Hot dawg! Thank you so much for giving me some of the best model building advice ever. Your advice is ever my builder’s mantra: Never Rush. What a photo! Come on, build a Mustang, Mustang! 1/48 scale Airfix! You and Carlos! Come on!

Also I am excited that I finally filed my taxes which have been on extension since April... not excited because of an expected windfall from a refund, because I actually owe a little bit. I am excited to feel one less weight! One less care.

I started looking for silver paint for the bare aluminum. I think I had this idea to use Mr Color's aluminum at one point, but now I am not sure how to proceed.

I also need to think about potential scribing and whether or not I am able to rivet this without mucking things up.

Thoughts?

One idea for rivets is Archer Fine Transfers. They do lines of rivets in different scales. They can be applied like decals and the carrier film disappears; especially after sealing them under a glosscoat. These should allow for great looking rivets that are easy to add. I'm sorry I don't have a link to go with this info though.

SEAT SUPPORTS

Working on the cockpit, again.



I lowered the fuel tanks nearly 1/8th of inch to the cockpit floor line due to (1) adding a bracket underneath the battery and radio; and (2) the change in overall height due to the aircraft support mount which rests underneath the fake top of the wing which the base plate creates.

I need to find my styrene to fabricate the seat supports, especially now that a pilot figure is on the way. I am basically building the uh “basic” structure of the two triangles and the two rectangles in between (one rectangle sited vertically; one horizontally). Although the actual aircraft had a more detailed design, I am going to start with the K.I.S.S. method first, and if that method does not work then I will try changing up the design, make it a little more accurately reflect what was truly there. This is one area where the sealed cockpit with figure limits details since the view reads top down or side to side. The walls of the cockpit, seat and heater hoses hide the details. I could include the details if the canopy and pilot were removable. I wonder if I should.

Apologies, Kari. I should have noted this as an acronym for "Keep it simple, stupid," a design principle attributed to the U.S. Navy in 1960. I wanted to keep the cockpit simple yet truthful to the overall design, and putting a solid figure in the seat without support would cause problems—just like in reality.
