I’d recommend San Diego over LA anytime. I think that city has fewer pretensions than LA does. LA is too busy trying to live up to their Hollywood glitz and glamour image. And the freeways... well rush hour is now several hours long in the morning and evening, and worse depending upon direction that one is heading. Weekends are just as bad, and for almost as long....

Thank you very much, but I have had enough of snow winters in Europe. I prefer warmer climes... But we are looking at Arizona. Much more sensibly run (no nanny state like here), good affordability, and not too long of a drive to visit the kids or friends.
