Re: Here Kitty Kitty - Tamiya Leopard A4
When I was looking up Russia versus NATO whilst reading “Red Storm Rising,” I stumbled upon this article about U.S. tanks in Germany, with a familiar appearance...

Everything is looking fantastic Carlos! I'm glad you got some time to work on this. I hope to see it tomorrow at AMPS.

Thank you Mark. Yes I will have this at AMPS tomorrow. I look forward to being back there again and seeing you along with the rest of those misfits.
And I will keep your handyman services offer in mind, should the need arise.

Re: Here Kitty Kitty - Tamiya Leopard A4
Aside from a TC figure, and a stowage item I need to paint and add, I am calling this one done. Mark saw it up close and in person at AMPS tonite and gave it the “Duke’s ‘seal of approval’”.
Anyways here are a few photos of the completed build and base that I put together for this build.

I’ll get some better photos up in the next few days in a completed build thread....

Wouh, very nice base!
My eyes paid attention to the street sign...
I googled up where the Leopard, regarding to the sign, 2 km from the villages Steinekirch and Gabelbach.. And found them next to eacother in very southern part of Germany, in Bayern.
But could not really, just of curiosity, what is special or why the maker of the sign has selected this two villages...
Or could of course be, that you Carlos have some story behind this dign and the villages there??

A very interesting and informative write-up comes to its end. And what a finish it is! I have a crush on the whole cold war Bundeswehr arsenal. It all looks so raw and functional.
Exactly my thoughts. A certain exercise area you had some fun at?KSaarni wrote:Or could of course be, that you Carlos have some story behind this dign and the villages there?

Re: Here Kitty Kitty - Tamiya Leopard A4
Thank you all for the kind words! I am very happy that you guys approve. In the end, once the netting and foliage was applied, I was able to achieve the look that I set out to do. At some points on the way, I was not sure that it would happen.
The sign on the base came from the latest Tamiya Modern US Accessories set. There are numerous road signs on the side of the box that you can cut out and use like this. Why Tamiya chose those two towns, I can’t say. But I chose them from the available road signs on the box, in that I also Googled them, and saw that they were located in the area where 10. Panzer Division was stationed during the Cold War. The unit codes under the mud are from 30. Panzer Brigade, which was part of 10. Panzer Division. I may have passed thru this area during REFORGER 84/ Certain Fury, but I do not believe so.

For some reason this photo did not upload last nite

and here is a photo of the basic empty base...

you will be seeing more of this thing recycled and used again in the future... with changes...
Once I get the commander figure finished and the last stowage item painted and installed, I’ll get a completed build thread with better photos posted....
