Enjoy!
That is sound advice. I know from first hand myself. I had my first Dragon kit (Sherman with rockets) a couple years ago and trashed it since it gave me fits along the way - too many broken tiny pieces, treads fought me non-stop - I mean who the hell does 3 parts for ONE tread?!? :headbang: , etc... So trashed it out of frustration.

Now I've got another Dragon kit I won at a raffle this year at Syrcon (at the time I thought "Jesus Christ , another Dragon armor kit? :headbang: ) :bored:... the Shilka. So far it has been smooth sailing.

Go slow and test fit everything and everything will fall in place. As Stik mentioned, I'd like to say the instruction guide has dyslexic. :headbang:

Oi! That was cool to read in your intro posts to the Firefly. Stuart, Carlos and BlackSheep have already hit the high points here. I look at those track assemblies and I check out—although I love what you wrote about basically turning track building into a Zen koan very much.

Dragon armor kits tend to be over-engineered and certainly not for the faint at heart. Don’t get me wrong, they’re awesome kits but a bit over the top. I rarely do armor kits but when I do one, I’m not afraid to tackle a Dragon kit. Yeah, I’m one willing to dive into that Dragon kit rabbit hole and dig myself out of one. I say bring it on...

Nice score on that Firefly. I'll be looking forward to seeing that one done.

And a nice tank too! I can see the progression of techniques that you are applying on your aircraft builds. When it comes to weathering, the armor guys do it the best. Lots to learn from the armor modeling work.

Duke- I honestly can’t wait to build that one! I’ll start on it shortly after the Corsair, Emil, and Panzer are done. I need to come back and finish the Panzer’s wheels, but the aircraft picking up steam have delayed me, but that’s okay- I have the Panzer on my mind. My only issue is that I find doing the wheels boring. But whatever, that just is what it is. I’ll have them done shortly!

John- Yeah buddy, let net tell ya- weathering armor has opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities, all of which can indeed carry over to aircraft in my opinion. I like tanks a lot because you can seriously go crazy if you want to. I like that a whole lit, actually LOL

Well you can have a bit of fun with rubber rimmed road wheels. In service the usually get gouged and damaged by stones and such. A little here, and a bit more there...

Example B here is how they look after awhile...

I use razor saws and needle files to modify kit parts...

I am not tapping-out on my Panzer IV. The Panzer IV will be completed.

HOWEVER, I have had an idea floating around in my imagination for a while which has captivated my attention, armor-wise.

Okay. Here we go. What if I built this:

And did it like this:

Basically, an Afrika Korps AT-ST. Only way, WAY more heavily weathered.

I got going on it this week, on Tank Saturday, while I was waiting on the primer on my Panzer’s wheels to dry.

Here’s the completed Subassembly #1:
