Thank you Bruce!

There’s a couple of things that I want to touch-up and tighten-up, just small things, but yeah man, on the whole, I’m pleased with it.

And I have made my peace with doing the “field applied” touch-ups on the leading wing edges, too. Even though Indont like that color. It fits my vision and it’ll add to the over-all asthetic I’m shooting for quite well I think, as long as I lighten it a bit.

Wonderfully faded!
Very well done, this will become a masterpiece!
( as a matter of fact, it is already!)

Thank you, Mr. Borg!

And thank you, Kari!

After more deliberation, and an attempt, I opted not to use the NAVY blue touch-ups on the leading wing edge. Instead, I opted to use my blue as-is with no white. So it’s still in keeping with the reference. I just hate the way that color looks on top of this one. And since my reference isn’t in color, and the aircraft was in all likelihood painted a two-tone scheme sans the dark blue, I’m not using it. And I feel good about that. Really good actually. God that color looked terrible.

So here’s what I’m opting for:

Here’s my reference (the only available picture of the genuine article):

What I’ve done is good. What I’ve done will definitely work in-keeping with the reference, and not making it so that I feel like destroying it every time I look at it.

Sidebar: my Hellcat calls for that blue I hate. I don’t know if I can do it LOL ... I might opt to go completely sideways with that, and paint it Rebel alliance style, same colors as Luke’s X-Wing fighter... :hmm: nah, I don’t think that’ll happen, but you have to admit, it would be hella cool.

Anyhow here she is, after the first round of touch-ups, “field applied” and otherwise:

Gave her a shot of Clear a while ago too, to prepare for decals which are coming next. I’d like to do one or two smaller touch ups, minuscule ones, but those can wait.

Thank you again for your kind words.

Well you sure are getting that weather beaten South Pacific look down on this one! :shoutout:

Another fantastic looking build, Kenny! The weathering is spot on. Can't wait to see the decals on her.

Thanks gents! Decals commence tomorrow and I’m stoked. Still got miles to go but she’s coming along. Weathering this thing has been an absolute blast.

Loving the beaten, battered, abused, weathered look of the South Pacific Theater of WW2. Well done! I can’t wait to see it with decals applied to match the weathered look you’ve achieved. Well done!

Gracias, Mr. Black Sheep!

Say folks, I have a question. I want to salt fade this beast. Is that doable with Tamiya acrylics?
