I don't think it's a dog either - it's probably better than the old tool Airfix one that I built back in the early 80s. It was the first (and only) multi-engined kit I've ever built. no paint - just light blue plastic and decals.
I've half tempted to get another old tool one for a bit of nostalgia.

What is cool is that there is a group of collectors whom build their vintage kits by polishing the kit plastic then assembling without painting at all, or painting the details in and leaving the rest in natural plastic. I saw a stunning build of the Aurora Famous Fighter Zero finished in this approach and it celebrated the kit and the subject beautifully!

I've seen a group build to that effect once - when it's done well it looks great. I suspect however that when I built mine at about the age of five it didn't look very good at all.

Stuart, We are always learning, thankfully! I bet your kit looked great. I have seen Frog kits in light blue plastic too! I wonder if there was a reason for doing this? When I built the ‘66 Aurora Moonbus, they kept the color scheme the same as the filming miniature and its interior set, but the detail lines were much more prominent to take full advantage of brushwork.

I've never been sure of the reasons for coloured plastic, but as someone who loves old tool kits it's always interested me. I know that Matchbox intentionally coloured their plastic so that people didn't have to paint them, or could just paint the
detail
parts and leave the exterior bare.
I actually quite like that old fashioned light blue plastic.

God you've bloody done it - the nostalgia got to me - I've put a bid in on this one (as it's the kit I built before)

Indeed! Mea culpa, Poldark! I was checking kits on eBay as well! Fantastic. What a great kit! When I checked out the plastic it looks like it will build into a beauty.

Wonderful news!
