Airfix 1904 Mercedes 1/32

I found this wonderful kit (along with another one) from a Dutch flea market. Did not hesitate a second when I picked it up..
Price was 3,5 €.. I did not even ask to look inside the box, I just new it would be in "mint conditions". The tape that kept it sealed looked like it was taped 1973..

This will be an interesting project, need to plan very carefully the approach.. How much can be assembled before painting or vice versa...

Below the sprues, having pretty good detail taking in consideration the kit originates from 1962.

This should be a neat build. A nice OOB project, or you can go to town on it. That driver reminds me of a Preisser figure for railroads. You can easily improve him a bit.

This photo popped up on a search—Interesting fuel tank as well as tire details. There is definitely an entire range of colors and modifications possible. Plus the scale is perfect for an aircraft diorama! Congratulations, Kari!

I need to build tens of old classic cars before even trying something like this superb example!

So going back to more humble build and more humble pictures...

Assembling started... Quite good fit, but the plastic is... is not really my cup of tea. Cannot put my finger on, what precisely I dis-like with this plastic.. something..


Quite good details on the instrument panel


A little bit fiddly chassis


Testfitting the pieces, challenge will be to get the tyres straight.
