Revell 1/48 A-10

Post by LyleW »

I hesitate to start this thread. That is usually a jinx on finishing the kit (see the WIP thread on the KC-135A, and others....).

I have not taken any pictures as a deliberate attempt to thwart the little model meanies that lurk around my bench. I have so far gotten the fuselage closed up, the engine module closed and some bit of paint slapped on interior parts.

This kit has some of the worst instructions, fit, locating pins, etc. I've ever had the pleasure of trying to decipher.

I just want to get past the "oh man, this sucks" stage and get something finished. I do like that the landing gear can go on at the end....may not actually break these!!

That cockpit looks great! And don’t worry about too much smoothness. The A-10 was not built for speed.... she’s a brawler :ballbat:

Thanks! Oh, it won't be smooth. Just trying to get the raised seams out. The parts seemed to close up ok, but there were ridges, like bits of flash. . . like the molds were not quite closed up enough. The IP was a decal and one side as well. the other one went poof....so a white Prismacolor pencil came out and highlighted some things.

Well, those molds are from the late 80’s, so if you have a newer boxing of the kit... :hmm:

Which scheme will you be doing this build in?

Methinks the box top scheme. I have a lot of gray to use up.

I am all giddy...or gassy. Let's hope for giddy. There is a series on the Smithsonian Channel on cable called Air Warriors and the A-10 was featured. It made me want to dig this rascal out.
