Howdy! When I see your seam fills, I flashback to using Tamiya White and Squadron Green putties. I want to put in a good word for Milliput. (I don’t get any compensation from them!) No smell. Easy to mix. Water soluble too. Basically you could wet smooth the seam line straight down the middle of your fuselage halves with a real easy bead of Milliput followed by a wash of water which practically eliminates sanding. Unless you like sanding, of course. Less putty. Less sanding. I dunno. I’m learning from everyone here so I thought I would suggest another type of filler. I have to add that I have learned to use a lot less putty. That long seam could be handled with some CA glue—a long bead of it—and there are some non stinky CA glues around. How’s your knee? I tore up my right knee when I was a wee lad pretending to be a skateboarder. I hope all is well, Lyle.

Bruce, I have both the white and green Tamiya, some Bondo (Hmmm....a Christmas theme?) and some Milliput. I've only tried the Milliput one time - on the filler hog, the Testor's B-2. Lordy. With CA, I usually glue myself to the model, so I hesitate to use that. I my give it a try, though. There are a few small areas that would be a good test bed. Knee is still sore - like a sprain sore. I think it is moving in the right direction, though.

Okay, here is where we are...
How the deceleron looked from the kit
I cut the pieces free, and then cut away the portion in the upper red oval so that it would lay flat, well, flatter, on the bottom red oval. Some Mr. Dissolved Putty and here we be. I did add some CA filler to the ends of the glued up deceleron.
Glued the back piece into place. Why? Because it was there.
Sprayed some primer gray on the bottom (the a-10's bottom...not mine, although that could be ....uh, never mind) and it is not too bad.

Started to mask the canopy. Alergies? who knows. Eyes watering so much, I caved and ordered masks. I am weak.

Lyle—your work looks great! Forgive me my long winded verbose hymn to Milliput. I should have known you were well aware of what it does. I have allergies too so I am limiting myself as much as possible to the safer adhesives and putties....

Never worry about that. It is always great info, sometimes new, sometimes a refresher. That is one of the many things to like about this group.

Pre-cut masks are an aggravation saver so no questions there! But a couple of other ones... why was the deceleron cut apart? Are you going to install them in a different position? Also... why is the model hanging in mid-air? It looks like some sort of torture!
