Tamiya 1/48 Fi156C Storch

Mostly I've been taking the parts for the wings off the tree today and cleaning them up. I have completed one task today, since I'm wanting to show the engine with the side and top panels removed I had to do some surgery to the top panel. Tamiya molds the top engine panel with part of the fuselage. So using a PE razor saw I carefully separated the two.

I think it came out looking good.
I still need to do something about my photos I think they was coming out better just sitting on my cutting mat.

I'm still working on this just been having some problems with the SD card in my phone had to get a new one. So I'll have some photos to post tomorrow, as of right now I have the wings together I'm thinking about leaving the flaps and leading edge off until after paint. I've test fit the wings and the top canopy is a tight fit I'm going to have to open up the mounting holes just a bit on the wings to let the mounting pegs on the the canopy fit alot better.

So ran into a big problem that drove me to having to take the front windscreen off, metal wing spar and the metal landing gear piece. I had built it up to the point of attaching the wings. I dry fitted them on the metal wing spar then added some CA to the metal and got one wing attached. Then added CA to the other side and as I was adding the wing something happend and the CA sat up solid with the wing only half way on, no idea how or why. I got some acetone from my wife to try to unbond the CA end up having to to just take the metal wing spar out so I could get a good grip on it to remove the wing. But now everything is back on and the wings are installed.

TGIF, Clint! What a recovery after a tense and challenging scenario. CA is wonderful, but it does have a mind of its own—sounds like it is also able to conquer gravity too. That sounds like a wild ride, but the results on the bench look fantastic. The lines of the aircraft are beautifully done, Clint.

That’s a good recovery, Clint, and hot damn that aircraft is coming along nicely. I’m enjoying this project.

Thanks guys, this weekend will be getting the tail put on followed by a coat of Tamiya primer then after checking the seams maybe some paint.

Okay, I know this is not a Storch, but have you seen this color photograph before??? I found this on a Russian site with "Best of WWII" photos. The composition is amazing. The colors are incredible!
