1/48 Academy F-5E Lightning - Complete

Post by silentbob33 »

Just finished this one today, a Lightning in the markings of the 8th Photo Recon Squadron based in the Philippines in 1945. Any comments or criticisms are appreciated.

S.B., that looks pretty nice. I might suggest a little work with pencil on the panel lines or some other weathering on the bare metal to match the wear on the anti glare areas.

That's a very pleasing result, especially by considering what a bitch this kit is. I copy Carlos' suggestion. A dark grey wash would add to the overall appearance.

What they all said....and :P1:
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Thanks guys!

Stik that's a really good idea about the pencil. I'll give it a go and see how it looks. Thanks!

Bob, I like using pencil on lighter color builds, especially ones with raised panel lines. Use some tissue or a cotton ball to smudge the pencil in the direction of airflow and boom! On NMF builds, the color looks very natural. And if you goof up, it is easily removed with a damp swap to try again. Seal it all in afterwards to protect it.
