Revell 1/48 A-10

... and just for fun, I went to Scalemates and found the instructions... read ‘em, and now I know what you mean, Lyle. Its not like great instructions do not exist for Revell to copy, and they have had this kit in one form or another since 1976, so they could and should do better. I wish they were still around in their glory days out here in Venice, California, I’d go draw for ‘em. At least I know a bunch of proper model builders to bounce ideas off about how to show a sequence! Plus, what are we supposed to use for a nose weight, where does it fit?

Yeah. Bad art for them. Horrible placement information. Doesn't seem like their work. If you get bored, start a sub business providing clear instructions.

You looked up the wrong kit. Yes, the original Revell kit dates from the 70’s, and is much simpler. But Lyle is building the Monogram kit which is from the 80’s, way more detailed and intricate. Of the original 1/48 A-10A kits- Revell, Tamiya, Esci, and Monogram, the Monogram kit was the most detailed and newest. We did not start seeing all the new tool A-10 kits- Italeri, Hobby Boss, etc. until 2000 or so

I have a Hasegawa A-10C which I started on and shelved for whatever reason- can’t remember why. That key seemed pretty good.

Dumb looks are still free

Putting some of the itsy-bitsy things on the A-10. This one is "spring loaded". Bench needed a sweeping anyway.

That is one of my pet peeves... fiddly bits on a thick hunk of sprue that’s sure to spell disaster.

Same here!!!! Especially when the big honking sprue joint is inside a curved piece like that!

The sprue log came off the antenna pretty easily. Plus, I was extra very special careful. Revell has become fond of flat or no attachment points. This piece had nothing, so it was put where I thought it went. Same on the pylons. They only had a flat, raised bed. nothing to keep them in place. So, naturally one or two moved.



This piece is simply identified as #83 Vent. The kit part was a solid little stub of plastic with no hole. Even I know a vent should be able to vent. Cut a piece of tubing and here we are. I 'm not sure that the instructions did not show it installed backwards. A few pictures I found seem to show it is facing the other way. Too late now.

That is the fuel overboard vent pipe. You have it half right. It is supposed to angle back, but the beveled end goes the other way. Not that big a deal honestly.
