Your choices are absolutely beautiful, John. Your photographic choices are absolutely exquisite, too. I think the word to describe what you just presented is, "exquisite.' I simply have no other word that suits all of the parameters at the moment.

I really, really, really am thinking about how lightening the green was so effective. This is so subtle. If you were silent about doing this, I don't think I would have seen it. The addition is subtle but it is also astonishingly effective, too. That is what really makes the choice work.

With the firewall, beyond the control of the airbrush lies something new. I don't know what it is yet. I do know that this is exquisite work, John.

I do wanna see how you bang the finish up and to what extent. The way things stand now, the aesthetic reveals the aircraft's form and that is potent stuff from you. I think, not to put too fine a point on it, that you found an excellent way to connect with your subject.

John, I think you’re on target for the green with that method which you used on the front bulkhead. But it has something of a contrast now, aside from color with the IP. That area looks too pristine by comparison.

Carlos... By "too pristine" are you referring to the bulkhead or instrument panel? They both look a bit too spiffy to my eye but my cockpits are usually on the cleaner side. There is a good chance that this will be a closed cockpit build like my others and that is one of the reasons why I don't go all out when weathering the pit.

Thanks Bruce! Still trying to determine the best course of action. Based on these results and how the cockpit construction is organized, I may paint and build up the separate sub-assemblies (front bulkhead, central cockpit, left sidewall, right sidewall and rear bulkhead) and then put those sub-assemblies together. That is roughly how the Tamiya instructions are organized (to their credit!).

You do such a beautiful job on the outside you should really go all out on the pit too I know you would make it a work of art.

Unless there is a visual reason not to go for it, I would just go for it, John. With the new photo studio you are using taking photos is gonna really be a way to showcase the details anyway. I think the member Lawdog or Lawman here on Spam at one point used to show the cockpit in the fuselage halves before buttoning the fuselage up. I always appreciate that kind of visual record, and you could easily come up with a few “hero shots” of your completed cockpit your way, to do the same thing.

The IP looks too pristine compared to the bulkhead to my eye. The bulkhead has weathering but the IP does not.

Gotcha Carlos! That’s a good observation and I appreciate the insight. It shouldn’t be to difficult to add a touch of weathering to the panel while avoiding the dials. Let me see what I can do!
