The kit part does look kinda blah. I would cut the grip off hollow it out and fit a piece of round styrene or brass depending on what you are more comfortable working with. Then add your wire etc.

Clint—Thanks so much for your advice! I am thinking about using brass tubing and brass wire and forming the basic grip from the smallest rolled piece of Milliput I have ever rolled. :wow:

Good luck too you Bruce. I find I always end up making way to much milliput then what I need. Before its all the way sat up could probably take a small needle and add texture to the grip.

Clint—Thank you! I just scrolled through 235 1/48 German figures on Scalemates! I skimmed the cream and left the results on your Storch thread.

Alright. I thought about this... and went on a treasure hunt instead of getting my hands sticky.

My nefarious plan—one from the spare parts on left (109?) grafted on the kit control shaft on the right. This will work.

In so non-Luftwaffe Focke-Wulf terms - the grip on the left has the Luftwaffe lightsaber look favored by Count Dooku and Mace Windu with that curved handle.

So! I drilled out the base of the handgrip, countersunk the plastic part and found it too short. I took the toothpick I use to add glue and whittled it down to about the right diameter, sanded that smooth, and epoxied the grip to the pick real neat.

Wow that really looks good, now just need to start adding the wiring to it.

Doesn't need much... the little junction box on the front of the stick for the wiring.

Do a search on KG 13 control stick and you'll get a lot of photo refs of restored units.

Clint and John—Thank you both so very much for your help and encouragement. Thank you, John for the proper nomenclature for the control stick itself and the photograph!

Really cool what's going on here. I like your designer's way to get the parts you want. Really great to see. Hope you will finish it. It can only lead to beauty.
