Wiring on the harness looks great! Will it be hard to paint cylinders with wiring in place?

Nope, shouldn’t be too much of a hassle at all. It wasn’t last time.

The first radial engine I did, I didn’t wire it until it was fully assembled. I didn’t like that. I don’t like working with glue around paintwork if I can help it. So on the last Corsair, I assembled it, wiring included, and then painted. I liked that better.

The method is:

1. Prime in black.
2. Paint crank case.
3. Dry brush aluminum or magnesium on the cylinders
4. Dry brush black on the push rods
5. Dry brush wires a subtle copper or whatever
6. Seal
7. Oil paints

I use a very, VERY small-diameter brush for the dry brushing. I can get in there well and accurately, no issues.

Cheers lads! I got the Nakajima Sakae 21 painted!

I’m going to give it a day for the enamel to dry before I clear coat it and then get after it with the oil paints. I’m happy with it so far.
