Lower instrument panel

I had to grind down the Eduard PE to fit, then I primed it yesterday eve and painted it today.

The IP is still lightly tacked in place as I have placards to add.

These 190 IP's are a lot of fun to build up and look great when they are completed. The only thing I really don't like about the 190's is the fact that a lot of the IP cannot be seen once the aircraft is fully assembled. But...……...that's about the only thing. 190's are BAD A looking aircraft.

Lookin' good so far Bruce.

Still need to add placards and the “fuel tank selector” to the lower instrument panel.

I think that looks smashing, Bruce. Not everyone makes this choice but I totally support the decision to re-paint the Eduard pre-painted instrument panel. Makes a lot of sense, especially given the lack of painted details on the outer fascia to begin with. Keep it going!

John—Thank you so much for your suggestion. Sincerely. I agree it is very plain—and I am still looking for some lost supplies including my circular punch for dial covers. I may have to forgo this technique. I might have to buy a sheet of decals and use these instead. Maybe 050 clear sheet is thin enough to make a triple layer sandwich! I dunno.I am definitely entertaining low cost options.

This way I could add the colored yellow-red, yellow circles at least. I think I still have this sheet of decals somewhere, too. My supplies are vanishing.

Always wanted to try them airscale instrument decals they look very nice. In 1/48 I use gloss mod podge for the glass, 1/32 is probably to big for that to look good though.

You’re making good, steady progress here. I’m liking how you work through each step intelligently, in a well-planned manner. And that cockpit is looking great.

Thanks so much, Clint and Ken—I don’t know if this ever happens to you, but despite passing the fit test initially the IP is slightly out of alignment. I have been concentrating so much on other issues I simply missed this quite basic fit check. I don’t want to grind away the overlap just yet, though. I think it is time to fit the cockpit into the fuselage to see whether this even is visible.
