Yeah bold move alright! From what I’ve read, you won’t have to deal with things like putty and shims because of the stellar fit. The challenge, for me anyway, is to put my own stamp on what has been a very popular subject. And determining what to improve and what to accept. Are you gonna go straight out of box on this Kenny? Or add a few AM goodies?

Attempt #4.

This is another 1:48. I like how I have a 1:48 Zero and an older Zero in 1:32. So I changed my mind, and pulled out another of my 1:48 F4U-1A Corsair kits, threw some Extra Thin into the box along with some microfiber pads and various other sundry things, closed the box back up, shook it for 30 seconds or so, and out popped this bird.

Construction took two days. I used the engine from my Bird Cage, due to the fact that I have a 1:32 Bird Cage to build. This one here is nearly ready for paint. Canopy masking is up next

If at first you don’t succeed...

You have got this Kenny.

One of the problems with this kit is the visible, crater-like ejector pin marks on the struts and inside the gear bays. Normally if they’re not really viable I leave time alone but there are straight-up ugly and they’d be very visible. So I filled them along with the Hole in that flap too. Used Milliput. I love that stuff.

Here’s a better look at one of the gear bays. I added wiring, using a reference photo Bruce shared with me a while back. I couldn’t get all of it, but I got enough to make it busier.
