Looks that way, yeah! I’m going to be sitting down to re-paint here in a bit, then clear coat. I’ll let that all dry and then get to the decals later on.

Stewart, you’re the man of the hour right now insofar as I’m concerned. If you hadn’t spotted that, I would’ve been waiting for new decals to arrive. I’m so glad I’m a pack rat. I’m glad I saved those spares and took a second look at them after you made that astute observation.

Yup! I had two extra sheets of these and boy did they come in handy.

The fuselage insignias are snugging down nicely. The panel lines are coming through very well. I like that Mr. Mark Setter/Softer.

I've not tried Mr Mark yet although I do have some. I bought it a the same time as buying micro sol/set and I've been running with that first of all.

Nice to know it does the job though.

What? The bars DO sit higher? I don't think I would'v'e registered that or noticed it afterwards. But a great fix! One of those, "can't unsee it" sort of issues!

It's always interesting to learn about markings during WW2. I have the Ginter book on the Hellcat and there's a ton of interesting facts in there. The Corsair was the big competition for the Hellcat during development. The Hellcat won out there. And the Hellcats on Enterprise had the Stars much bigger than other ones (early 1942) because the CAG got shot at by his own ships in the fleet.

Yup, actual combat dictates funny markings practices. The D-Day invasion stripes can trace their reason into the numerous friendly fire incidents in the Med, particularly the Sicily airborne drops where a significant portion of the troop carriers were shot down by friendly fire.

It’s an interesting subject which I’ve only gotten more interested in since I began this project.

I went from hating the NAVY Blue in the three color camo to becoming rather fond of how it looks. Same goes for the red borders on those insignias- on this aircraft it works so well. I’d dare say it’s sexy. It is. Those red surrounds are super sexy. I’m glad I was able to do an example of that. I’m going to read more about this stuff because it’s beginning to fascinate me.

Decals are complete after taking yesterday to correct the insignias.

Every time I do a 1:48 I always tell myself that I’ll forego the small stencils. And I always end up doing them all anyway.

Some appear shiny in the photos. That’s the Mr. Mark Softer. And incidentally, NO ISSSUES with that stuff damaging the paint work yet.

That's looking blooming brilliant Kenny - A very nice looking bird indeed. I do like the three-tone scheme it has to be said. Of course being a sad Englishman I'd have to build an FAA bird.
