Nice to see the Corsair on its own legs, Kenny! I like the steel wool idea. I'm playing with something similar after seeing a post at LSP using Scotchbrite. I may (or may not) use it on my current builds if I can get decent results on my paint mule. Always looking for better ways!

Yes sir, looking for different methods and sussing some out for ourselves is a good thing indeed.

For me, I disliked how much effort it was to remove the salt, as well as the cupcake frosting I ended up with last time even though I’d cleaned it just about as thoroughly as I could. I got a pretty good effect this way, one which I’m happy with. And it saved me time, effort, and layers of paint as I didn’t have to do the salt fade layer, then a clear layer, and then the oil dot fading layer, more clear, and then a wash.

I omitted the dot fading, and actually did the pin wash on the same layer as the fade. Top-side is basically ready for a flat coat, it’s crazy!
