Dodge Challenger SRT8 - Revell 1/25

Post by mostrich »

Saw this car on the Amazon Prime Show "The Grand Tour" and instantly fell in love with its lines, power, and the sheer anachronism of its existance. Then, as if somebody had a greater plan with me, the Revell kit popped up on my proposal list on ebay for a 18€ start bid. It turned out that I was the only bidder and so a week later it was mine.

I was promoted a few months ago and since then work occupied a big lump of my mental energy. Couldn't wrap my mind around my relatively complex projects that's been lingering around my bench for a year and more now. When my holiday started two weeks ago I just jumped into it, but not after I've watched a few of Tom Ruijter's great tutorials on YT (The Scalemodeling Channel).
It all started with a chemical experiment: the dechroming of plastic parts. My drain pipe cleaner turned out as a proper solution for that case.

The parting lines on the body, caused by the multi part mold, were traced with a permanent marker and attacked with two grades of sanding sticks.

To achieve a homogeneous depth of the panel lines all of them got rescriped.

So far the fit is good. Plastic is on the soft side, so sanding and scraping has to be done carefully and with a soft touch. Though the white color is a PITA, you just can't see nothing. But besides that it's been a lot of fun so far.
Cheers,
Torben

Looking good!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

I'll follow this one. I had a 2011 inaugural edition 392 srt8 challenger. Blue with white stripes. Great car. Only mod i did was a Hurst short throw shifter. I regret letting it go.
Thanks,
John

Hi Kari,

it's the photo etched scribe-r designed by Radu Brinzan. >Link to his shop<
A reliable tool that comes with 2 spare blades to a very competitive price. The handle is not included, but you can use any cheap standard handle that has a chuck.
