Tonight I isolated cockpit and wheel well parts for Curtiss Interior Green. That was all the time I had to spare. Hopefully I will try paint tomorrow.

Carlos! Thank you... that is interesting, indeed. Well, I dragged my airbrush on the patio for 30 minutes earlier today.





My mixture was Gunze Bright Green 66 and Dark Green 70. I was completely mixing by eyes or feel. I think this feels close to me. The final base color effect has a little electricity from the Bright Green—a little glow, which is leavened by the dark green. I have seen restoration cockpits where the green is very bright, and I think that brightness in the restoration is a bit much.

Thank you, Mark. I am glad you stayed cool. I shot the lock off the wallet a few months ago and put two necessities in my life—a new computer and a portable air conditioner. I paid off the computer and am working on the air conditioner payments month to month. Lemme tell you, this lil guy is a big help because my apartment is one big box with a window on one side—the Westside interpretation of an artist’s studio—great natural light but absolutely no insulation! I’m not quite able to cool myself down to refrigerator level like you are, but I am able to put a bit of “crispy cool” air in my living quarters, and for that modern convenience I am grateful.

Tiny, yes, Tom. Yes. Believing the color was still too dark, I removed the PE recycled Eduard Horten belts from Spare Parts and redid the sprues a lighter green. Then I basically took my old approach which I call the “Bandai pre-paint everything,” done per step as I am low on supplies; down to just paint, airbrush, X-Acto, razor saw and one almost empty Tamiya tape dispenser. So. I got busy clipping sprues and airbrushing green and grey.

I got seams seams seams that are more open on top than bottom. I got seams, for sure, but the base color which is deliberately spotty chunky OD does make things happen.

These are the Curtis Green patches that work IMO, some magic there. I studied Kari’s approach yesterday because I like the stressed, oily textures he makes. My attempt is through oil paint and graphite wash.
