I enjoyed for the first hour or so, and then the flak started and an engine got taken out by a Bf110 and I didn't find it so relaxing!

That cockpit color always throws me for a loop. Wonder why they went with that. . . .love the rock garden behind it.

I remember reading somewhere that the color was suggested by head pshrinker types due to its’ subconscious “relaxing properties”. Who knows if that is actually true though. It does sort of look like the color off a ‘56 Chevy Bel Aire. Perhaps somebody in the VVS just was a closet gear head...

I don’t know how accurate the color is for Mig-15 builds. I do recall that when I was doing internet image searches of Mig-15 cockpits, they ranged across the medium gray spectrum from very neutral to quite bluish in tone. And when you throw the variety of nations who produced these aircraft beyond the Soviets, at least Poland, China and Czechoslovakia off the top of my head, the chances for variation increase. And who is to say that the cockpits weren’t repainted into the later turquoise color during an overhaul.

It's mad isn't it. Looking at ref pics I think ti really should be Grey/black. However it's been so long since I did an Eastern Block aircraft I'm using a little artistic licence.

Got my 2nd, post Cold War, set of decals today! I'm really stoked by these as it has a couple of extra types AND a full list of all the various aircraft flown by the AAF.







And just to show it's not all talk - I skipped working on the Spitfire today and got the Mig-15 nailed together instead.



I did find something annoying though - that tail has a bad warp. Now that I remember it, so did the last HB Mig I built - I think it's how they're packed.



I'm going to try some hot water and see if I can sort it out. If I can't I'll have to see what I can do. I've already bid on a replacement Airfix kit on ebay.
