I am not entirely familiar with Spitfires. That said, I always liked the looks of them, most especially the Supermarine variant. And I am really excited that you’re doing one in this scale. Beyond thrilled, actually for that and also because it seems you’re off to it and firing on all cylinders. This delights me.

I was reading about the application of perfectionism to making artwork. I believe this is fairly common and definitely relatable to a lot of people, perhaps not you, but certainly I have that darn perfectionist gene in my DNA’s cocktail... or is it a mental idea... as I beat this reply to death, my apologies. A simple thank you! Heartfelt. I am grateful because following your build showed me that the simplified Hasegawa interpretation would need to be ground down to a naturally evolving curve, instead of a bumpy angular mess. What’s next would be to pull the fuse halves apart and repaint the silver on the wings where I ground that down, followed by flash clean up of the pilot.

lol! I perfected the art of not giving a sh*t years ago - often I don't have the time or the head space. In all honesty I'm probably TOO far the other way. I do care - I just don't do a lot about it!

If that's the case then I still think you'd do well (and don't take this the wrong way) to just start getting the thing together. Now that you've made a good job of the wing - start getting the pilot and pit painted OOB and get the thing glued together. Nothing teaches model building better than actually doing it - besides, it's going to be a bugger to get a nice clean paint finish over all that masking tape!

Well, as always, I'm very late to this build party! Bruce. it's great to see you building this. I've built at least four Spitfires myself. In fact, my second build was a Spitfire; unpainted with Australian markings. I also used to draw aircraft profiles in flight... one small difference, I used to draw in Snoopy's profile in the pilot seat! Seems he's flown Spitfires, Mustangs and even a P-47... at least on my notebooks.

And it seems that Woodstock and company are paratroopers...

Thanks for the reply Bruce. I'm not really sure why 1/72 scale is called the gentleman's scale; I'll have to research that. As for perfectionism in building; I have a bit of that. However, when I get to a point that all attempts to perfect something is keeping me from actually moving forward on something; that's when I say "good enough" and just push forward to complete it. I personally hate having a lot of stagnant, long-term projects sitting on the bench; I want them finished! You'd never know that about me if you saw all the stalled projects sitting around my hobby room. I really need to do another New Year's resolution to finish stalled projects. The last time I did that; I completed 11 stalled projects. Time to do it again. Maybe we can set up a Group Build for that starting January 1st: The Shelf Queen Group Build. That might motivate me to complete even more than eleven!

Carlos, I love the pic of all the Woodstock birds parachuting. I should try drawing them all coming from a C-47! Bruce, I love that pic with Snoopy added in. I always feel moved when I see that for some reason.
