I had an RC trainer years ago - an Precident High-boy I think it was. I spent more time rebuilding it than it ever spent flying.
I'd kinda like to have a go at building a larger scale display model from balsa, but not had the time/space yet.

Anyway, The stuff that I managed to "rearrange" on the nose is in pretty bad shape. I may just order replacement sheets from Guillows and see how that goes. Everything on the left side of this pic for the first three formers is broken. . . on both sides. Still don't know how I managed that. I have about 70% repaired or something like that, but it just doesn't look right.
Decided to tackle the floatie things. Coming along pretty good.

Not really. I just have gotten better at putting it down, having some coffee, and coming back to it. The floats went together quite easily, too. I may just rebuild the entire fuselage since I had to order all the parts to get what I needed. We'll see. You really should try one again.

As with everything - it's down to practice, practice and more practice. Making up the floats was probably a good experience, they certainly look the part.
So are you going to tissue paper and dope this, or is it going to be skinned with wood? I assume it's rubber band powered?

Despite the setbacks, it has been a fun diversion from plastic. I don't know that I'll be covering this at all. The gear for rubber band power is included in the kit, but I am not building it with the "flying" rudder or stabilizer (included in kit) which are bigger in area. My precision in building these is not good enough to meet flying standards. The P-51 I did back in grad school was a great example of that. which by the way I did cover in 1/32 balsa. Looked pretty good until I tried to actually fly it.

Man, I remember these Guillows balsa kits! I built one WAY BACK when (Piper Cub?) and it also had a rubber band powered prop.
