Thanks guys! This Tamiya kit is undoubtedly the "best" kit I've ever worked on, that's for sure. I put the best in quotes because I don't enjoy working on Revell and Hasegawa kits any less. They just require a bit more work to get to the same level but fun just the same.
The port wing on 740 was replaced as indicated by the stars on both sides of the wing. This is evident in photos. What is not so evident is the color of that wing. I've chosen to represent the wing in the older 2-color blue/grey scheme to match the older stars with no bars. The wing could've been re-painted when the white bars were added to the upper wing star to match the rest of the 4-color scheme but I thought this would be a unique representation and is not conclusively disputed by photos.
The bottom has been dirtied up just a little bit more.
I lost the clear light lens for the top of the fuselage. Took a couple of days to look for it but it didn't turn up. So I used clear UV epoxy and it turned pretty well. I was even able to replicate the tear-drop shape.
Some details were added to the sliding canopy including the three rear-view mirrors.
The tail wheel and doors have been glued into place.
Quick set epoxy was used to attach the wheels, making sure that the flattened spots on the tires are correctly oriented.
