i do hope you are not going to paint over that lovely, OD plastic! I bought a book on the He 100 a few years ago because it was marked down....interesting plane.

I believe we are going to disappoint you, Lyle, but I hope you will not be too disappointed. The plan is to use the very well proportioned model kit parts as a foundational springboard for more accurate modifications. With all the sanding and gluing these modifications will entail, the kit will still be a Lindberg but the finished model will reflect the kinds of alterations necessary to bring the model as close to the subject as possible. That will entail choosing the proper version, which I believe in both cases will be the last produced by the factory, but as you see here, there were a few others to consider, including the Japanese and Russian exports as well.



Earlier versions have a completely different cooling system, wing and tail fin size changes, and canopy alterations.

I hope what I wrote makes sense, Mike. Right now we are converting the D version specs to 1/72 measurements.

Thanks, Stuart. Well. So much for the Lindberg proportions. The cowling shape and the canopy location and size appear to be off. I believe the cowling issues can be overcome, but I am less certain about moving the canopy forward due to the wing root position. I am not sure how to proceed but we will proceed somehow.

Oh, just build it for what it is and enjoy it.

Yup! I couldn’t agree more. Sizes are going to be major challenge, and shapes may or may not be in the “how deep do I want to get into this before I lose steam?” realm. Just try building the basic kit to look as good as possible with major surgeries.

As Bruce said, making the cowling section matching the shape more realistic is possible with some cuts ect.
Moving the cockpit, canopy and adding the missing rear side windows is a surgery which is not easy. Always the risk to lose the kit. The critical thing currently is that we or better I haven't find the actual failure or where it is located.
Bruce, I suggest to fix the front shape issue first. Then trying to find the easy solution for the cockpit?

So you guys can see that this little kit is a big challenge.

This is going to be fun to watch. Seeing the sprue shots brings back memories of the one I built a few decades ago. I still have it on my shelf.
