Carlos, I can't argue with that, but as a land based fighter used by the USAAF the reading I have done suggests it was outclassed in the Pacific by the P-38 with respect to range.

I wish I could "unsee" a Thunderbolt with folding wings, and I do have some extra P-47N kits

Yes, the P-38 had much longer legs. And in the PTO with the long open water flights it had the added security benefit of the second engine.

I remember finding it awhile ago. It sure puts some perspective on the daylight bombing campaign. If you imagine the center of the combat radius from southeast England it gives a bit more coverage to central and southern Europe.
