Lyle, I feel your pain. I have two large aircraft like that one that I'm working on so I have twice the problem. Good catch on that and well done on the seam filling. I'm still watching this with interest.

I see that handling a kit of this dimensions is not pure fun. When I airbrushed my 1/48 scale Rockwell B-1 back then one hand did hold the airbrush filled up with paint, the other hand tried to handle this big kit. I can tell you that one of my hands did hurt after the paint job...

Joke of the day...."Where does a 1/48 scale B-29 sit?" It looks even bigger with the horizontal stabilizers attached. Now, all the fiddly sub-assemblies are on tap. And, breaking out the steel wool to polish the wings and fuselage. Need to get it on its feet to see if I need another boat anchor or not.

As for checking the balance, I usually hold the model with a thumb and forefinger in the main wheel wells. If it tips forward, I have enough inside the nose.If not, I know I need to add more.... somehow. Most times though, I tape the thing together to see just so I can open it to add more if I need.

Got my eye on a 6 foot long x 30 inch wide desk at my workplace. I asked what's the situation for the desks were. If they're being tossed, I taking one of them.

I found this workstation at a flea market. Cost me 100. Where I worked, heaven forbid they 'give' anything away. Being a school district, they sent it to a holding warehouse and would have periodic auctions. Grab all you can - who knows.
