B-29 in 1/48 Monogram

Post by LyleW »

I am a little hesitant to start this thread. I want to do this one, but who knows how far it will go? I only have 23 gallons of paint.

I want to do "DOC" the latest B-29 being restored, but there are no decals. Restoration team says that the licensing with Disney is too much. Way to go Walt. There are some AM decals available for a 1/48 B-24 with "Doc" markings, but the lettering for "Doc" is way different. Sigh.

I will be watching this build with great interest. I have one in my stash that I started about...nine years ago. I haven't had the courage to start painting something that big. With all of the moving over the years, the time just hasn't been right to start on it again.

Doogie, that is a terrifying part of this one! If I can do the "Doc" version, it is polished aluminum at this point. May have better luck doing the version they pulled out of the desert.

Trying something different this time. I'm assembling the interior and then will paint it... Still some annoying fit and instruction clarity issues that they could easily fix.

some of the sprue trees. Would have been nice (way back then) if they had included a tree map.

I like it! I want to see this one built. And don't blame Walt, it's his greedy successors and their lawyers who made it impossible. I also like the OD version too. I've seen one of those in 1/72 scale and was tempted to pic it up to add to my bomber force.

You're off to a great start Lyle! I do like the OD/NG scheme myself. That is something that you hardly ever see. I do know that a company called Iliad Decals makes a set of decals for this kit of the OD/NG Superforts

Or you may want to look for some Korean War markings of NMF over Black...
