Man, that's TINY! I think shiny plastic accepts paint just fine. Is that a reflection or a big gouge on the spinner just below the prop blade hole in the last photo?

I have the 1/48 Pro Modeler Me-410 in my stash, but have not looked at it in ages. I do remember that it looked to be a sharp kit.

That'd be cool to see - I suspect quite a large model in 1/48?

Not that large. On the same size range as other twin heavy fighters like the P-38 or Mosquito

That is tiny but that is very well detailed for the scale and age of the kit. The polishing you're doing will probably help the paint on the end.

John, thank you so much for posting your completed FM model! That really looks exquisite. I have not seen too many published photos because I fell into this project, really, so thank you so much for letting me view your work. What is especially valuable is noting where there seams are on the engines and how these turned out so well on your project. Congratulations!

Clint, thank you so much for your thoughts. I am using some plastic polishing compounds from a company called "Flitz." Have you heard of them? I tried out their chrome polish on a dozen chairs with really messed up chrome frames and the polish worked like gangbusters. It's the kind of polish that you have to work "wet," and not let dry to a haze, but I did shifts of three chairs each on my patio over several days and the chairs look darn good. The nice part too is that the polishing removed the discoloration without removing the coating. That's always a bit tricky with metal surfaces as you well know from gun-smithy work.
