We have arrived at the painting phase.
After the resin primer, there was some more sanding and filler. And a layer of Mr Surfacer. I was almost out of black so I diluted it with gray to dark gray.
After that the first color. Black, AMT 6 by AKAN, diluted with Vallejo acrylic thinner. I have used Gunze thinner on a previous batch of AKAN paint but that combination turned gooey.
White 42 gets a black nose, so it is painted completely black. And for both white 40 and 42 the pieces that were made of wood were made darker. Even though the same color green was used, there was a color difference between the metal and wooden parts.
I hope to approach this with a difference in surface.

Akan paints are great source for accurate Russian colors. I had a couple bottles but both are kaput/empty. I know the Linden Hill Imports has a distributor stateside that carries Akan paint lines and other products. I have yet ordered anything from them yet.

Disaster struck, I made a mistake with thinner and now the paint wouldn’t harden. So I had to wipe it all off.
I restarted this build. Attempt two starts with the cockpit. This is my resin part. I added a spade grip to the control column. The rest of the cockpit is exactly as I pulled it from the mold.

Sorry to hear this, but it looks like you have it under control.

What happened here, Borg? Vallejo thinner versus Akan acrylics?

Wow…. I hate it when paint and thinner don’t play nice. You’ve got this, Borg.
