Agreed! I think that the chin scoop adds such character... and of course is a natural for the shark mouth artwork.... though this one will not have that....

Wow, I just read through this whole thing. Beautiful work Carlos! This was well worth traveling through. You are making excellent progress!

Thanks Mark! I’m running behind on this, but am happy with how it’s coming along...

Ok mr popcorn....
I have doing my usual small bits of progress here over the past few days...
I dry brushed the radiator detail on the insert piece
and once dry, glued it in place
don’t worry, the engine access panels are just tacked in place for painting, so I can install the exhaust stacks after the base color is on...
Today I added the Desert Pink over the OD in the window scallops.
Since I had extra in the airbrush cup, I sprayed the rest over the wing tips to see how the color looked over the bare plastic as opposed to the OD base in the window scallops. To my eye, the color has a more vivid tone that compared to over the bare plastic. In direct sunlight, the difference is more noticeable about the depth of the color.
So, like on the real 57th FG P-40s, I’ll paint the uppers in OD first, then apply the Desert Pink, AKA Sand 26, on top for a nice even tone. I am using Polly S (pre Polly Scale) Desert Pink, which I bought off our our own Duke Maddog from his IPMS auction “mystery box”, Christmas 2017. I prefer their take on the color compared to all the other paint brands. Thank you Mark!

PCA 810, Desert Pink. Lord I do miss the Polly S paint line.
Testors makes ANA 616 Sand, which is a lighter shade. Much like comparing Olive Drab 41 to Olive Drab ANA 613. Similar colors yet distinctly different. And the Polly S shade is good for representing a slightly faded shade of the color where the yellow pigments are bleaching away in the sun and the paint is going to its pinkish shade.

Poly S is the smart choice and the right choice. Your daylight shots reveal the tone, significantly. I am really going to have to buy some Archive X paint or go on a hunt for Poly S! This just proves it. I know it's also a testament to your skill (allow the praise as it is warranted!) that this color looks so good! Bravo, Carlos!

Thanks Bruce. Give me a few days to get this baby fully painted.
As for your search for Polly S paints, good luck! They were discontinued at least 20 years ago to make way for the Polly Scale line... which was discontinued a few years ago now. Such a loss.
