1/48 AMT P-40F

Post by Stikpusher »

I’m starting this one as a “quickie” of sorts....

As usual, work starts in the cockpit. I wasn’t planning on any AM, but when I opened the box, I found that I had bought some Ultracast seats with harness and squirreled them away in here, so I will use one.

which means that I had to fill in the mounting slots for the kit seat

So all this is now ready for paint....

More soon....

Always nice to find a little Easter egg in a kit.

Good morning, Carlos! Like a bolt from the blue, only it’s no bolt, is it? Still, what a surprise, Carlos, and I have two questions, which bird? And what do the sprues look like?

Well, I already started cutting parts off of the sprues, and throwing away empty remains...

And I’ll be doing one of these sand camo P-40s that were sent to the Western Desert and attached to the RAF in late summer and fall of 1942...

The profiles are not quite correct, as they should have Neutral Gray undersurfaces, not Sky Blue.

Cool choices! My second thought was, specifically, this scheme:

Cockpit color is bronze green, correct? What will you use—home brew or store bought paint?

I like these kits! While they are fairly basic, they do present well. I bet I've done at least half a dozen over the years, and I know I still have a few runnin around in the stash...hard to pass up, when ever contest I've been to has bagged kits for 5 bucks a pop!

I built the K version several years back. I have a long tail F, an L, E, and N in my stash to do still. They are decent enough kits.

Warhawk is a great plane. Looking forward to seeing this as she progresses.
