Re: 1/48 AMT P-51D
Thank you Stuart! In all honesty I like the black bolts of the actual marking over the gray bolts of the Draw Decals… which I think screwed up, as they looked OD in the movie….

Yep - black is definitely better than the grey would have been - I don't think that would have worked.

Tell me this, how the hell did a young lad, captured in Singapore at the start of the war and subsequently slung into an internment camp, even know what the hell a P-51 was anyway? Just saying...

P-51 is Looking great Carlos--rudder is not half bad either
. Draw Decals always seems to fall of my radar. I have to keep pinching myself to remember to check out what is available from them. Thanks for the reminder.

You’ll have to watch the movie… but the kid is an aircraft buff and in the internment camp they get some updates thru magazines and such in the world situation (in Red Cross packages perhaps?)… and they get captured in Shanghai, at the International CommunityStuart wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 5:04 am Yep - black is definitely better than the grey would have been - I don't think that would have worked.

Thanks Chris! All I can say about Draw Decals from my experience is use caution with them. I won’t be using them again after this experience.

LOL! I'm sure you're right - it has been a looooooooooooong time since I saw it. John Malkovich was good if I recall.Stikpusher wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 9:01 pmYou’ll have to watch the movie… but the kid is an aircraft buff and in the internment camp they get some updates thru magazines and such in the world situation (in Red Cross packages perhaps?)… and they get captured in Shanghai, at the International CommunityStuart wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 5:04 am Yep - black is definitely better than the grey would have been - I don't think that would have worked.

Yes Malkovich was very good in his role. As well all of the other players in the film. I still think it is one of Spielberg’s top five films.

Re: 1/48 AMT P-51D
Today I added a home made sludge wash into the recessed details then cleaned it up, and also added the prop stenciling decals

Almost ready for final assembly, top coat, and weathering…
