I inspected my MPC Spirit of '57 Gasser kit.
Looks daunting doesn't it Tom? lol

She sure did. It gave her fits but she stuck with it and turned out a good build.

Thanks for the comments Stuart and Mike.
The next step involved in getting the wheels onto the car was to make a solid way of mounting them to the axle without just dabbing a bunch of super glue or whatever onto the rear of the wheel and merely gluing it straight to the axle.
I took a 10mm socket and lightly glued it to the OOB wheel backing and spun it up in a drill against a razor blade stood on end to shave away the outer circumference of the wheel backing until it fit inside the aluminum wheel.
This is where I started:
fter removing enough of the outside wheel backing surface here is the difference between the untouched OOB part on the left and the shaved one on the right.
Here is the desired effect in action:
Presto!!

Not as bad as I had thought considering it's a re-pop off the original. Shouldn't be too big of an issue. My David Union sander can handle it.

LOL!! I spent around 2-3 hours cleaning the parts of each kit that I was going to use up. It is indeed doable but I really wish that Round 2 would've cleaned 'em up a little bit more and added in either some replacement parts or at least some new parts.

Your work is amazing, Joe. I was going to add back when Tom posted his photos that the blue was a spray on tint that hot rodders would use on side windows. Green was also popular. Somewhere I have photos of my uncle "the black knight" and one of his customs.

There ya go. Black knights rode black steeds. You can see the tint.

Joe… I came across this color scheme of the Spirit of ‘57 Gasser.

I love the “First On Race Day” decal on the trunk.

Adding the stars to the fenders and top of hood is a nice touch too.
Not too fond of the red stars on the blower though.
