Wow, despite doing everything according to everyone's recommendations and practicing over and over again, I still cannot get such a smooth, even coat on my models! You make it look so easy and yet I have gone months and month re-shooting paint to try and get something remotely that smooth. You truly are a Master; I don't deserve to walk in your footsteps.

Reading, watching, taking notes, falling under the spell of what you do; I can see the finish line in your head, where the car is parked in late afternoon light just gleaming and waiting to go, bravo! and I have a couple of beginner questions, if I may: on the dash, page three of the thread, you drilled out the gauges... How do you support the dash piece when you drill out the holes? Is that held in the vise which is visible in the final "reveal" of the finished dash? I am always wondering how to best support a small part when working on it. Also, is that a blue putty or polish visible around the openings? If so, what is it?

Thanks Bruce. As far as holding the dash while I drill the holes: I hold the complete assy in one hand and start out with a teeny drill bit in a pin vise in the other. I work up to larger drill bits until I get the size of the gauge hole. You have to start drilling prior to ANY paint work to make it all happen. I've actually got the dash clipped in an alligator clip on a stand and then edit out the clip when I modify the final photo.
For the third question. I'm not sure what you mean about the blue putty so I'll assume you're talking about the blue around the wheel openings. This is a color shifting paint meaning that in different lighting you'll see mixtures of green, blue and purple. Really wicked effect on a beautiful shade of paint that was GM used back in the late 90's/ early 2000's. I just had to use it here and it is an automotive lacquer/ paint from a body shop that I'm using.
