Eduard 1/32 Me109E3

So, I decided to start this about a week ago, and not only has it been fun, but really quick too! Considering I already have multiple projects going on, (grandson's 1/48 F-16, other grandson's 1/48 P-39, and my last fig for my M-21 halftrack), you'd think I'd wait. Not me!

I decided to build it pretty much OOB, just to see how it would come out. Very happy so far. I also decided to keep the cowl closed. It does require a little fiddling here and there, but nothing too bad. mostly minor trimming and fit work.

I finally took a few minutes yesterday to take some pics of it and my Hs 129, (which I forgot to put on photobucket ), but oh well.



Here she is. I decided to go with the box art depicting Priller's aircraft.




There is a tiny bit of flash in some places, but very little.




Seat belts in.




Lower IP done. I love the color PE!




All this in less than a week! (maybe 10-15 hours tops)




Cockpit done, and this is where I am right now.

Should be ready to start paint either today or tomorrow. Will definitely be interesting, as this will be my first mottle job!

I'm amazed that you mananged to find that many hours in a week to apply to modelling! Wow! I'm lucky if I can find a couple.

Lovely work on that 109 - the pit looks super. Are those Fabric belts or PE?

PE belts, believe it or not. I was surprised as to how well they look. I usually replace them with fabric, just because they usually don't conform well. These seemed to work just right.

As for my time, I find about an hour a night, (I get home 3 hours earlier than the wife does), plus Sunday I was able to build all day. Mostly my grandson's birds, but I found time for this one too.

Thank you sir! I'm really glad for color PE instruments. IPs and figure faces are my weakest painting skills right now. Mostly because of my fine motor skill damage from my military service, (*note*-the stupid things you do actually do take a toll... ).

I know the color that Eduard uses has been under a lot of criticism, but from everything I've read and seen, the interior color changed almost as often as Hitler changed Field Marshals!

It's a nice kit. My fuselage was warped on it's axis, but it wasn't too much difficulty. Great work so far. Looking forward to more.

Thanks Jim. Other than a minor fit issue between the lower wing/fuselage assembly and the main fuselage, I have no real complaints. A small gap at each end that was easily fixed with thin styrene scrap, some Tenax, a little putty and some sanding. Probably took me longer to gather what I needed than to actually fill the gaps.
