Monogram 1/48 Bell AH-1S Cobra

Post by Gary Brantley »

Here’s a build that’s 15-20 years old but I had never taken it to the airport until last summer. It’s the old Monogram kit from 1986 and mine is painted in Israeli livery. It’s pretty much OOB but I did add a bit of screening to the turbine vents and made a couple sets of map that are stowed beside the seats.

This kit suffered the only damage in transit to the airport out of five different aircraft traveling. The rotor is not attached and it fell off and knocked the cable cutter off the top of the cockpit, easily seen in these pics. Oh well, the photo shoot must go on! The locale is the Coffield Regional Airport in Rockdale, Texas. The old hangar in these pics dates back to WWII so I’m told. Thanks for taking a look!

Tex, another outstanding piece of work on an old kit. She looks amazing. I really like the outdoor, airport pics and I'm somewhat amazed they have continued to let you do that. Keep it up!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Again a masterpiece Tex, both buildingwise and picturewise!

Anybody who doesn't like your Cobra is lower than a snake...

JimD wrote:Well I'm glad I slithered in here and got a snake peek at this one. It's fangtastic. And the photos too as usual. Do my snake eyes decive me or is this a different location than the usual airport? Looks like a great place to uncoil a few warbird builds and milk a few more charming shots with the camera. Ok, well I'm done being punny. See you guys tomamba.
Thanks Jimmy! Man, you are so punny! Thanks for the laughs dude. :shoutout:
Yeah, different airport, the setting for my MiG-21, Typhoon, F-5A, and P-39. They've were posted here last year I believe.
