Eduard Mig-15 UTI 1/72 ProfiPACK

Post by KSaarni »

Hi all,

I actually started this project some time ago, to build Eduards classic Mig-15 UTI (NATO code name Midget).
This one will be a Finnish Air force version..

Image

Already looking at the sprues, you can "sense" the high quality of the kit...

Testfit of the cockpit... So well done, that without any tape or bluetack, the parts snap tightly and firmly
Image

Eduards ProfiPACK has nice PE-parts, really looking good (of course, if Yahu would have an IP for the Mig-15 UTI, I would probably have used that instead...)
Image

I bought some time ago a special PE-bending tool, that I used now for the first time.. Works pretty well and makes bending PE parts easy.
Image

After some evenings, the cockpit was finally ready

Enough of lead in the front.... wont be a tail-sitter..
Image

... and the fuselage halves could be joined together..

And here the Midget waits for next steps (masking of canopy + into the paintbooth)
Some sanding and filling, puttying etc needed though...

Let's see what next!

That is awfully nice for such a tiny craft. Very well done!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

The Mig has been pretty much untouched the last 2-3 weeks due to pretty hectic period in my work.

But some progress since last time..

Masking of the canopy is less difficult when you have those ready made masks, as all Eduard ProfiPACK kit sets have..
Image

Cockpit more or a less finalised..
Image

Canopy on and next steps to the paintbooth...
Image

After one layer of Vallejos Dull Aluminium metal color. The finish is not really tip-top and I need to get it more matt than shiny.
Image

But I guess that process only after decals are on place..

Let's see what next!
(I guess decals)

If you wany it more matt, why not use a matt finish after the decals. That is my useal recipy for NMF.
