Takom 1/35 AMX-13/75

Post by Jeeves »

Well-- Squadron had this on sale for $20 so I jumped on it...looking to build her up in scheme D from the decal sheet....

Assembly is going pretty smoothly-- some delicate parts to be sure...I've been careful to relieve stress on the sprues before actually cutting the part out. Here is my work through the first few steps:

And a nice touch by Takom- the tires for the road wheels are separate which makes them hella easier to paint!

Some progress despite the oppressive heat as of late...

Pretty much all fiddly bits on and paint sprayed. Need to add the tires to the road wheels and assemble tracks yet...then finish assembly and start weathering...

Nice grab! That baby is packing some serious heat with rockets. Is that a Sherman tank variation?

Nope- it's based on the French AMX-13 light tank.

Next phase about to begin...in deciding on whether to drink coffee or whiskey I decided to compromise on both...

Same here! Wished I could get one of those for 20 bucks here in Germany!
How much time was between the buy and the paint job we see here?

That is a nice kit of the AMX 13! My wife's uncle was AMX driver for his draft. He is retired now but still has great stories of tearing up German forests at big NATO excercises. Apperently it was fun to drive.

Thanks all... I can with all honesty say I did NOT enjoy these tracks ;) Not much holding them together...and when I brushed on the cement to try to weld them together initially, they still fell apart when fixing them on...every time I tried to fix something, another part came free...needless to say, I am happy it's done...it's not perfect, but its done. Now that everything is set I may try a bit more fine tuning...

They might be pricey, but this is why I prefer to make use of Friul tracks. Absolutely solid but moveable when done, and immune to any acrylic or solvent treatment later.

A nice looking finish on your little Frenchman! I like some German-lookalike parts on it, as the engine cover.
