Polikarpov I-15 red army Icm 1/72

Post by BsYamato »

Here another 99,9% finished plane i'm working on, the original wip was ... you know about :geek:

Actually just few steps to finish, here a little resume, basically few mods was operated, almost OOB build

Box'n'sprues

Image

... a sprue .. LOL :) up and down

Image

Image

Image

finely detailed as most of ICM kits but the construction is another matter :!:

Cockpit steps, out of belts oob, some junction modificatio was needed to fit all pieces

Image

Image

Image

Image

ready cockpit

Image

Image

The engine, lately i needed to detach rear exhausts part to correct...

Image

Image

glued the fuselage and bottom wing

Image

here with other two russian :) ..theres is another, the Su-2 from ICM but actually freezed

Image

Image

upper wing

Image

Image

metal reinforcers for gears, the kit includes no pins :|

Image

on the tail surfaces too

Image

Rigging with stretched sprue not too tiny in this case

Image

Image

paint it black

Image

and silver mixing, about three thinned layers

Image

Image

decals on after glossy layer, this time fortunately Icm decals was good :)

Image

Image

corrected engine, the problem was the alignment with guns barrels

Image

also a cut on the engine basement was needed to allow a major rotation of the engine in the place, even for guns alignment

first
Image

and after
Image

glued the guns , maded by copper tiny tubes that replaced original rods and the correct alignment

Image

the engine with front cover.. even here some cutting to allow a proper fitting

Image

Image

Image

and actual situation, all pieces glued, just some retouch needed :)

Image

Image

Image

Forget to write about the rigging.. the correct tension of stretched sprues was obtained with a sprue fired with a lighter, swithced off and carefully put under the wires withouth touch it and just see the wires under tension :)

At the next!

Love it Bsyamato. These Polikarpovs are interesting little machines. The fuselage star, I've never seen one like that??

Nice job, BSY! Love the model and really like the backdrop. Quite envious of that.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..
