Panzer Mk. 4 Special, Derelict Tank #215 El-Alamein, Egypt 1942

Post by KennyX »

This tank was abandoned by the Germans during the battle in El-Alamein, Egypt, 1942:

…and was eventually captured by the British. Which, I’m 100% here for it.

I have a lot which actually represents this tank:

And I would like to model that specific scene in the reference photo.

And I would also like to be able to display it with a macabre twist…

What if they’d stumbled upon old Captain Howdy like Father Merrin did, and he possessed the crew and made them kill each other, and then later the Brits found the derelict Panzer IV and captured it?

I’ll be building it this week while my family is away visiting my wife’s Auntie. I can’t go because I don’t have the vacation time. So that’ll keep me plenty busy.

I’ve been wanting to mashup The Exorcist and the DAK for a long time.

Updates forthcoming,

So this will be the modeling equivalent of “From Dusk ‘til Dawn”… but instead of a crime movie taking a sharp left turn into vampires, this will be Panzers take that sharp left turn to demonic possession… :hmm: interesting…. All you need is the old comic book Haunted Tank

Carlos, yessir thats exactly right!

What in shooting for here is to be able to model the tank as per the reference photo to accurately reflect the state it was in when it was photographed, and then add it to this crazy Exorcist X WWII mashup vignette idea. From the photo it looks like at least two hatches are open, so I could add some of the figures, for that. I need to learn how to paint those guys anyway

Now, onto the Haunted Tank comic book, I didn’t know that was a thing but I always did like stories of ghost trains and the like, and if we can have ghost trains, why can’t we have haunted tanks? I’m going to look that up!

I'm pretty sure that I had this issue when I was a kid; how could you go wrong with Sgt. Rock and the Haunted tank in one issue?!?!

You know what, Keav? That’s a great idea and I’m going to put that in my book and cogitate on it!

Check this out— did you ever see the old movie “Heavy Metal”?

There’s a segment where they’re in the pacific, and there’s a Flying Fortress crew, and they’re taking a lot of fire, and eventually only one crewman is left, and everybody else on the plane became zombies. He bails and lands on a small island full of aircraft wreckage, and … zombies!

It would be really cool to do a vignette like that, from a real WWII wreck scene.

Thank you!

Nope… not stupid idea at all. Creative vibes is what I like to call it. Looking forward to what you’re going with this.
