Coming out of the Mothballs...

Post by BlackSheep214 »

...after 20 plus years after removing them from my grandmother's house after her death in the 90s. I had tossed a majority of them due to too many broken parts, don't want them anymore and the missus needed me to weed out a few to make space in storage (that one I won't talk about and painful to discuss)

Most of my car kits were... well crappy builds from my youth years :bag: I did save 4. All were original kit color as out of the box.

Monogram 1/25 scale '56 Chevy. Kitbashed it to a 4x4 :giggles:

Image

Why? Cuz it was cool to build my engine this way...

Monogram '57 Chevy Nomad

Funster Trans Am... remember those???? :giggles:

I saved the best for last. A Monogram iconic kit...S'Cool Bus Funny car. Only the black was painted on the body.

Wings and whirlybirds....

All are Hasegawa kits in 1/72 scale. First... a few broken off parts I managed to save while unloading from box filled foam peanuts.

Few parts..

Image

The aircrafts...

OV-10A Bronco. A tailsitter too. Missing one wheel. Not found in box it was stored in. I have several replacement wheels in my parts stash.

A-6E Intruder

E-2C Hawkeye. I remember having a lot of fun building this old bird.

The Whirlybirds... I only built 2 during my teen years.

SH-60 Seahawk

AH-64 Apache Longbow

Some pretty cool old builds Tom. And pretty nicely done for a youngster.
Thanks,
John

That's what I says too! None of my early teen stuff was that good. Little survives, but I could do a model car junkyard with what I have left...

Some really cool stuff there Tom, Your builds then are probably better than mine now lol!

What I'm really stunned by though is the dot-matrix printer paper. Where on earth did you get that from, I haven't seen any of that since the 90's!

No. My workplace had excess of those paper. I grabbed a small stack for scratch paper on my bench.

Very cool! I wish I had pics of my old builds as a teenager. I'd like to see how bad they were.

Many of my early adulthood surviving early builds were done as a teenager… 18 and 19 to be exact. I think I still have a handful of other surviving pre adult teen years builds. But most have been rebuilt and/or repainted in the ensuing years.
