Hi Folks - Slow burner project of the Hasegawa Shinmeiwa PS-1 flying boat in 1/72 scale. on-and-off for almost two years. just could nt get the vibe. there images were taken from different times during that two year period.

The box art gives you a nice impression of the large flying boat.

The content of box

Decals look good and in register. but looking at reference photos on Google, its outdated. looks like I need to combine some in-house printing

Instruction sheet is all in Japanese. Illustration helps though.

everything about this box is hold. here is the flaps and ailerons. the whole surface is covered with fine rivets. the fitting is 'okay' wiith some that are less than perfect.

This one is on my list...someday. love this airplane. There are some good YouTube videos of this being flown - interiors, etc.

Thanks guys. been trying to catch up on my over due projects this holiday season. I wonder how far I can get before I have to return to office

Some more photos. sanding both ends of the cowlings because its just uneven. its an old kit, so you will probably see me do this many times.

This is the position of the front wheels for the PS-1. the SS-2 has the wheels struts rather mid way to the rear.

The bare three-seat cockpit. need to add something to make it a bit representative

Did some little work on the seats with masking tape seat-belts. Its always useful with some dry-brushing and putting some color on the consoles. I don't think there is much to see once the canopy is glued.

Thanks Kari and Silvia - Been trying to create a WIP i was still lacking some good progress photos of the build. LoL

Here is a profile of the starboard fuselage. the Shinmeiwa is relatively long in length. The surface is covered with very fine raised rivets and panel lines. Indonesian modelers just hate these type of models.

Here is what the two fuselage are mated. This is still just dry fitting. I am trying to get a sense of the quality of the fitting, since its an old kit and heard a lot on the web about is not expecting too much on the fitting quality.

This is the fuselage after the top and bottom part is joint together. i should have strengthen the joints with extra styrene bit, but I didnt. So I just have to make do with carefully aligning the two halves and gluing them with Tamiya extra thin cement. i am a bit nervous trying hard not to spill any glue on to the fine rivets and panel lines.

I guess there aren´t too many build examples of this flying boat out there, there more I am ready to follow you on this here. Even if it takes two more years, LOL...
