I am fully expecting that although things "fit", it will be like the compounding of very small alignment issues as it goes further. . .

I had two brain cells left this morning....down to one.

I finally caught up with you here! I thought once the project quiz was over things would grow quiet, glad to see I was wrong about that. What’s interesting are those instructions complete with photos! Well, Lyle my friend you sure don’t rest on your laurels when it comes to building model kits. Those look like some tough to produce fits and that must be a real challenge to assemble—emphasis on the word beginning with those three letters as in “a pain in the—“ well now what else is there to write? Honestly I would take those sprues and repaint them all grey because I find staring at acid bright yellow burns out my retinas! Your builds always make me happy because these are the prime kits everybody talks about in hushed whispers but never shows. Good for you for having the guts and gumption to build as you please!

Whiskey is whisky is ambrosia, don’tcha know?

Kinda takes me waaaaay back in the 70s when some kits were molded in a variety of colors… yellow, red, green, blue, silver, black, etc…

Thank you, Bruce. The b/w pics are “vintage” and of no use so far. Over 420 parts, too. Biggest issue is the faint part numbers on the sprues. Really weak and hard to see. However, each sprue tree has a large tab with the range of part numbers contained on it. I think 17 parts in the front axle. I get so tired of the same stuff that everyone else build for the most part, so, these beasts show up.

I’m grateful you are building these beautiful oddball kits. That’s truly a badge of courage. I think this kit is going well so far, too! I personally found painting every detail part grey right on the sprues let me see the seams and fit better.

There are still kits out there I want to build that are molded in optic orange yellow and green—those old Gowland one night builds of the Pioneers—but you already went there. Good fun; good kits; good times at the bench! Life is good.

Having a spare hour to build is the best time to build a kit.

The engine goes in today, I think. At least that is where I am in the destructions, uh, suggested build sequnce.

Thank you, Mike. Yep, yellow is the color of the day, for sure. These, and armor, tend to vex me greatly as the monochromatic colors are tough for me to A) see well during assembly, B) paint/weather convincingly...But, hey having some fun now.

 That's so funny! I bought some Eduard vinyl canopy masks for my MiG-3 and they arrived yesterday. Hell, I can't even see the various shapes on the little sheet of vinyl! They are die-cut, but I have to basically "feel" with the tip of a #11 blade and see what lifts up. I'm sitting here with coffee now, sort of dreading that task, but in another way, I'm sort of anxious to get on with it. Anxious is the key word here. Note: the coffee will no doubt be of great help in guiding my steady hands.
