Tiger Tiger burning Bright... (Tamiya 1/35 Tiger I (Late)

Nice work!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Thanks Lyle!

What type and brand of paints are you using Stuart?

LOL! It's just one of those things that you need to do if you want to build armour I guess. I tend to quite enjoy it once I get into a rhythm.mustang1989 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2026 2:13 pm Those tracks are indeed the bane of armor modeling.......with sanding roadwheels being a close second. lol

Making some progress on the Tiger.
The decals are on (all four of them) and I've covered the build in a mix of Flory's 'Dust' and 'Grime' washes. I'm just in the process of cleaning it off.

Cheers all!

Flory’s wash is a liquified clay? I should look that up. I’ve never used his products. The results are getting there I think you’re still removing excess?

Indeed they are Bruce, water and clay and very easy to work with. I'm still a novice at all this really but I like the product. I am still removing the excess yes, and then I'll matt coat it, and then use some dry pigments and some drybrushing. I might also try the sponge method of chipping.speedgraflex wrote: ↑Sat Apr 18, 2026 2:39 pm Flory’s wash is a liquified clay? I should look that up. I’ve never used his products. Then I might mix some acrylic medium with some sand and build up some clag around the tracks.
I'm just taking this slowly - feeling my way and working on it when I get in the mood.

I’ll put it this way—you’re definitely in the mood—a not so subtle reference to the scene in both Dune adaptations!

I use Phil Flory's clay-based washes on every build now and they are really easy to use. I find that I'll remove more and more of the wash as I go, often even slightly wetting an old brush to reactivate the dried wash to alter the effect and look. Often, there's not much of the wash left. One caveat, do not use a brush or stirrer with them that has done duty with any solvent-based products. It will ruin the wash and render it unusable. One of my very first bottles got damaged that way!Stuart wrote: ↑Sat Apr 18, 2026 2:46 pmIndeed they are Bruce, water and clay and very easy to work with. You're having some fun on this Tiger, Stuart!
