Thanks a million Joe! Yeah, I'm lucky to have the airport nearby. I'm going to keep using it until they run me off I guess.
I do want to make a dirt runway "base" that I can use with WWII planes and older. I think that would be more appropriate for many of those. Thanks again!

Oh yeah... some Marston matting (or however the hell you spell it) we called it PSP (pierced steel plank) in the 80s...

Man that would look neat. Surround it with some turf, dirt areas, and it would be cool for pics!

No joke! Heck, a plastic model could melt in this Texas August I believe. That might make for an interesting experiment; place a model on a car hood for a few hours and see if the Martian death rays come visit! On somewhat of a side-note, whenever I see a large, tripod-supported water storage tower, I always think of H.G. Wells' Martian War machines.
