Even with just one wing attached, this thing is a handful. Down to the Mr. Surfacer to fill scratches, etc. It slid off the bench and when I grabbed it....



So, we reattached with CA, started the sanding and filling again.

Good to know you stopped this big bird from crashing on the floor!
I wonder why you re-attached the wing using CA? Wouldn´t melting the parts with plastic glue get a better bond?

Working on wheels today. Got a "trick" off the internet, one of the model sites. Seems to work pretty good. Thin some tire black, and let the capillary action make it go around the hubs. I hit the hubs with flat aluminum and then the thinned tire color.





...and some observations regarding Liquid Gravity.

1) although about the size of poppy seeds, they are not interchangeable! Too crunchy. Don't taste very good, either.
2) be careful adding to wheel halves - nose wheel halves on a B-29 to be specific, as it may be too full. Once set with CA, it is like concrete. Spent some quality time picking out bit of this so the wheel would close.
3) don't spill them.
and
4) they ain't liquid.

Hmmm... I usually do the opposite when painting the tires and hubs. I paint the hubs first then paint the tires. Then I weather them using MM Black Detail Wash.

Wings are together. They fit very nicely. Amazed watching the seams come together when applying the Tenax. Dare I say, almost magical? Naw. But it did look like they were closing on their own. (Queue mysterious sounds)





I may have to pick up some Tenax myself. Looks like it does the job it's suppose to do on troublesome spots.

BlackSheep - I did notice a few gaps...how? by looking into the open end of the wing. I do seem to have a problem getting the liquid cement (Tenax or Tamiya) to penetrate the entire seam depth.

It was originally glued with Tenax. Some CA was applied over that to seal a stress fracture (guess that is what you would call it). The CA sets more quickly and with this beast, there is nothing but a butt joint to work from.

I think that is basically what I did when all was done. Who can remember that far back? Tires were done with Lifecolor Vulcanized Rubber.

Yeah, lots of fumes. I do have a mask. May break that out. I bought a canary and cage to keep in the room as a warning. (some will get this). For its size, probably use rattle cans if going with the NMF. If I go with OD/NG - the ol' Badger will get a workout.
