Vallejo has a good reputation but I have no experience with them. I will follow this with interest.

Some unsolicited advice, it has been my experience that any metal finish goes on better on a (gloss) black coat.

Yes, the newer generation of Vallejo metallics is very good, should work here too.

Paint is on - and turned out perfect. I had to rework the wing roots with Perfect Plastic Putty and paint again there. The paint dries fast and sets perfectly on the surface. No primer was used (although you could do so), and it still looks perfect.

Decals and small parts will be next.

Sure. I only brushed them on my figures before, but didnt airbrush them. Now, with very good results with an airbrush also, I really love them even more. :D
